Sara Jane Rodney Muhlestein danced into the arms of her beloved husband, Howard Blair Muhlestein, on March 3, 2021. Born on July 17, 1936, in Mesa, Arizona, to Ted and Irma Rodney. Sara lived her life creating memories. She met Blair during her days at Brigham Young University; they married on July 16, 1955, in Provo, Utah, and soon moved to Logan, Utah, where Blair completed his degree in Mechanical Engineering at Utah State University. They were later sealed together for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona temple on March 25th, 1965. Their family grew quickly as the 5-K’s joined, Kirtis Bren, Kenneth Dean, Kyle Jay, Keith Nolan, and Kris Alan. Blair and Sara began raising their family in Logan, Utah, and then moved on to Sunnyvale, California, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Wilmington, Delaware, and then to Loveland as Sara enjoyed supporting her husband’s career at Hewlett Packard. She enjoyed sewing matching outfits for her five sons, planning road trips and picnics, and serving with the Red Cross and as a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As retirement years approached, Sara was very involved in supporting Blair’s transition into the art community as a renowned sculptor. She shared her own artistic nature through painting and voracious reading. She and Blair spent many happy years traveling to art shows and galleries with Sara eventually becoming the eyes for her husband as his sight diminished. She loved their life in Colorado and provided dedicated care for her husband as his health and life failed. Sara continued to advise her family to make wonderful memories and spent the last years of her life with family in Utah and Texas.
Sara was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters, Anne and Audrey. She is survived by her sister, Nathel Gylling, her five sons, Kirtis of Honolulu, Hawaii, Ken (Kim) of Gold Hill, Oregon, Kyle (Laura) of Orem, Utah, Keith (Carole) of Helotes, Texas, and Kris (Alex) of Tulalip, Washington, along with seven grandchildren, Kahalealii, Laakea, Alisia, Maleea, Michael, Robert and Konnor, three great grandchildren Grayson, Rose, and Leila and her faithful, furry companion, Katie.
Sara will be interred next to the love of her life, Blair, in Loveland, Colorado. Condolences may be sent to the Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home at 1102 N. Lincoln Ave, Loveland, Colorado, 80537. Sara asked that, in lieu of flowers, any donations be sent to the Artist Charitable Fund at 338 E. 4th St. Loveland CO 80537."
