JULY 30, 1951 – APRIL 2, 2022

Sean Fagan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, died after a lengthy illness, at the age of 70.

Sean was born in 1951 to Robert and Irmel Fagan in Estes Park, CO. He was one of five children. Thus began a lifetime of mountain adventures, strong bonds, and a multitude of shared laughter and smiles.

In his early years, Sean enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting, and going on adventures in the great outdoors. He would earn a sharp shooter and other awards in shooting events, taught his family to shoot and hunt, and built a cabin with his mother, wife, other family members and friends on Crystal Mountain in Buckhorn Canyon. He was a creative type and enjoyed woodworking, jewelry making, and candle making. He played guitar, joined in softball games, and enjoyed get-togethers with family and friends. By far, some of his greatest talents were cooking and baking. He used his intuition in creating incredible food for his family, never utilizing an exact recipe. All of his dishes will be missed right along with him.

He was a strong believer in Christ and would regularly speak of God’s goodness, faith, and love and the purpose He had for each of us. He trusted God implicitly, never questioning the reason behind any happening in his life.

Ever the jokester, Sean loved to make people laugh by telling stories or jokes and had a lighthearted attitude toward life. He would often tell his family when they were upset, “Let it roll off your shoulders.” Nothing was worth staying mad about. He wanted everyone to be happy.

He married the love of his life, Laura Welsh, in 1975 and together they raised their daughters Caitlin and Donnica. As a family they would camp, fish, hike, enjoy the family cabin, and instilled in the girls the importance of family time. On more than one occasion he gave in to being a model for his girls to put his hair in clips and his beard in pigtails. He would help with science projects, cheer the girls on during events, and built his famous snow slides during winter storms.

He became a grandfather in 2009 with the birth of his grandson, Blaine, and again in 2014 when his granddaughter Elora followed. Nothing gave him greater joy than spending time with his family.

He worked for F&C Door and Lock Company for 30 years before his retirement in 2016. He met many people in the community and he enjoyed serving them and connecting with them. He never met a stranger and would frequently run into friends and acquaintances when he was out and about.

He was a kind, gentle, loving man and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Laura, his daughters, Caitlin (Josh) Jones, Donnica (Ben) Fagan-D’Arcey, grandchildren Blaine and Elora D’Arcey, sisters Bridget (Bill), Shannon (Rico), Ginger (Jim), brother Fred (Jackie), and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Irmel Fagan, and siblings, Bobby and Shelagh.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff who worked with Sean at the Medical Center of the Rockies for their hard work, care, love, and humor during his stay there.

At Sean’s request, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice.
