September 14, 1942 - December 2, 2022

Our hearts are heavy as we share that Sharon Lee (Bruso) Larson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on December 2, 2022 after a short illness.

Sharon was born on September 14, 1942 in Duluth, Minnesota, to George and Garnet (Swanson) Bruso. While still an infant the family relocated to Saint Clair, Michigan. As Sharon’s father was a conservation officer for the state, the family, which soon added brother, Fred, lived in many different towns. Her favorite was Lapeer where she spent her elementary years. In 1960 Sharon graduated from Saints Peter and Paul High School in Saginaw where she was on the honor roll and participated in glee, science, and library clubs, serving as the Publicity Chairman of the Library her senior year. At the college level, Sharon was studying to be a medical technologist and completed three years between Sienna Heights College in Adrian and Northern Michigan University in Marquette. She had a variety of jobs over the years, more recently revolving around retail.

An avid reader, Sharon mostly enjoyed romantic historic fiction, especially if it pertained to Scotland. A life goal was achieved in 2000 when she was able to visit Scotland with her daughter, Ruth. Her favorite beverage was Constant Comment tea, something her Great-Grandma Robins introduced her to. Sharon loved everything related to beaches, sailing ships, and light houses. She was a brilliant and talented lady who excelled at a variety of arts and crafts including sewing, embroidery, counted cross stitch, felt applique, fabric weaving, and various forms of painting. She was a wonderful cook and baker; she also decorated a warm and charming country-style home. Many of these talents and interests were passed along to her family members and we will always appreciate and admire her for them.

During her marriage to Norbert Ketola of Newberry, Michigan, Sharon had three daughters. Over the years the couple lived in many states, including Minnesota, Georgia, Colorado, and Vermont. A favorite memory was the many family camping trips on Jekyll Island, Georgia, in the ‘70’s. Sharon met her current husband, R. Dwayne Larson (previously of Loveland), while taking square dance lessons, a hobby they both loved. They were married on April 7, 2001 and have resided in Severance, CO much of their marriage.

Sharon is survived by her husband R. Dwayne Larson of Severance, CO, her brother Fred (Therese) Bruso of Laingsburg, MI, her three daughters, Yvonne (Steve) Dodge of Aurora, CO, Ruth Ketola (Tom Lindsey) of Fort Collins, CO, Amanda Ketola (Adam Whaley) of Peoria, AZ, eleven grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in Sharon’s honor at 10:30 on Wednesday, December 28, at LifeSpring Church, 743 S. Dotsero Drive, Loveland, Colorado. A private graveside service will follow at a later time.

“I love you, a bushel and a peck! A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck!”

Because they have been so kind to us, donations can be made in Sharon’s name to Banner Hospice,
5628 19th Street, Suite 2, Greeley, CO 80634.
