Verlita A. Lindsay, 90, of Fort Collins, CO, passed peacefully on December 8, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins, CO, December 16, 2022.

Lita was born July 21, 1932 in Chicago, IL, at Ravenswood Hospital, to Verle H. Brown and Verona E. (Hall) Brown. She was an Honorable Mention in the 1934 Sears National Baby Contest.

Lita attended Garfield Public Schools in Maywood, IL, until 1949. She was a member of the Girls Athletic Association, cast member in plays, and was the piano accompanist in many plays, talent nights and community parties. Lita would spend the summers with her grandparents on their farm in Nebraska. She was an avid Cubs fan and attended games whenever she could.

Her father retired in 1949 and moved the family to Bridgeport, NE, where he owned and operated the Western Auto store. Lita attended Bridgeport High school her junior and senior year, graduating in 1950. She was a member of the National Honor Society. After graduation Lita attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, majoring in fine arts. While there she was affiliated with the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, a member of the Red Cross College Activities Unit, was on the Honor Society Pageant staff, and a member of the National Honor Society. Music was her hobby, but she also won scholarship medals for her performances.

Lita enjoyed theatre plays, musical programs and Cubs games.

On June 17, 1951, Lita married Robert E. Lindsay. They were married almost 70 years. Bob passed March 30, 2021.

Lita was a member of Bethel No. 22 of Bridgeport, NE, Order of Job’s Daughters, and a member of the International Order of Job’s Daughters. She played the piano at Job’s Daughters meetings. Lita was also a member of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program for more than 5 years. Bob and Lita sold and built log homes for ten years after building their own log home in the mountains near Estes Park, 80 feet above the river. Lita also worked for a directory firm in Loveland, retiring in 1989.

Bob served 21 years in the United States Air Force. They were stationed nine years in France and Germany and various bases in the states. They saw all of Europe while stationed in France and Germany, a dream of theirs when they married.

Lita is survived by her son Chuck (Laurie) Lindsay, David (Shirley) Lindsay, Lynne (Mike Culver), sisters-in-law Gloria Nelson and Linda Brown, eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. One son, Mike, predeceased his parents.
