William (Bill) L. Short of Loveland, CO, died peacefully on October 30, 2022, at McKee Medical Center. He was 89. Bill was born on Valentine’s Day, 1933, in Goodland, KS, the son of Leroy and Nancy (Lee) Short, the youngest of their 10 children. He graduated from Goodland High School where he met the love of his life Carol Harding. Bill and Carol were married on September 7, 1952. They recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. He attended Fort Hayes State earning his bachelor’s degree, and later earned his masters at Penn State University. He taught calculus, math analysis, trigonometry, and general math at Longmont High School for 32 years, and was also a life-long mason, laying brick in the summers with his three brothers. After retirement, he and Carol moved to Loveland. Traveling was a passion for them, and they traveled the U.S. and of the world extensively. Forever a fan of Longmont High football and basketball, Bill attended as many games as he could, and loved going to the Colorado Rockies and keeping score. Most of all, Bill adored his entire family and the times when everyone was together. Preceding him in death were his parents; 9 siblings; a daughter, Angie (Kevin) Klag; and a great-grandson, Thaddeus Sellmer. He is survived by his wife Carol; two daughters, Ginger (Frank) Lockwood of Longmont, CO, and Lisa (Bob) Kreutz of Loveland, CO; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of his life will be held a later date.
