The first Wednesday of each month have become lazier days for most St. Vrain Valley School District students due to late start days. But with the district using a hybrid of in-person and remote learning this fall, late start days have moved to Fridays.

SVVSD began using its hybrid learning model in early October, which has students to attend classes in two groups: elementary and middle school students attend either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday; high school students attend on a Monday-Tuesday or Wednesday-Thursday schedule.

All SVVSD students spend Fridays in asynchronous online study.

In years past, late start days have fallen on the first Wednesday of each month except August, October and January. Late start days allow time for staff professional development, according to the SVVSD website.

Under the new hybrid model, late start days have been moved to the first Friday of the month, delaying asynchronous learning by 2.5 hours.

Students and parents will be notified of their late start schedule by their individual schools, according to the district.
