Three administrative roles in the St. Vrain Valley School District will be filled by familiar faces.
On Wednesday, the St. Vrain school board approved the hiring of a new principal for Erie Middle School, assistant principal at Mead High School and executive director of Innovation Programs — all being current St. Vrain employees.
Andrea Smith, the current principal at Lyons Middle/High School, was named the new principal for Erie Middle School. Prior to Lyons, she served as assistant principal at Niwot High School and assistant principal at Peak to Peak Charter School.
“I may have said the words in the interview, ‘Middle school is my jam,’” Smith said. “And I think that’s so true. I’ve so very much enjoyed the opportunity at Lyons to bring the middle school and high school together, and I’m just also really excited to focus my leadership on middle school.”
The new assistant principal for Mead High School, Lindsay La Porte, currently serves as dean of students at the high school after serving as an instructional coordinator at Mead. Before that, she supported the Office of Professional Development as a learning and technology coach for the district.
“I’m just so excited to be part of this system and part of the Mead community,” La Porte said.
The district’s current director of innovation programs, Axel Reitzig, was also named the executive director of Innovation Programs. Reitzig started at the Innovation Center in 2014 as program manager, moving to the role of Innovation Center Coordinator in 2019.
“I look forward to enacting and really making your district vision a reality,” Reitzig said.
The school board unanimously approved the appointment of all three administrators as part of the consent agenda.
