St. Vrain names principal of Main Street School

District also hires special ed assistant director, assistant principals

The St. Vrain Valley School District board of education approved another round of administrative hires at their last meeting of the 2021-22 school year.

The board unanimously approved hiring a principal at Main Street School, assistant principal at Altona Middle School, assistant principal at Thunder Valley K-8 and special education assistant director.

Gina Trujillo was named the principal at Main Street School. Trujillo currently serves as the special education coordinator for St. Vrain, after working as a special education facilitator from 2011-2017 in the district and, before that, as a special education teacher at Legacy Elementary.

The board named Colleen Dodge as the assistant principal of Altona Middle School. Dodge currently serves as assistant principal in Jeffco Schools. Before that, she taught special education in Jeffco from 2013-2019 and in Clear Creek School District from 2012-2013.

Matthew Romig will be the assistant principal at Thunder Valley. He currently serves as dean of students at Soaring Heights PK-8 and Erie High School, and from 2012-2021 he taught music and choir at Coal Ridge Middle School.

For the special education assistant director, the board approved the recommendation to hire Benjamin Yamato. Yamato currently serves as a special education coordinator for Adams 12 Five Stars School after four years as a school psychologist and two years as a district mental health specialist in the same district.

All roles are effective July 1.
