Drive-by shooting results in one dead and one injured

A 13-year-old male was killed around 1:49 p.m. as a result of a drive-by shooting.

A 13-year-old male was killed around 1:49 p.m. Saturday as a result of a drive-by shooting.

The shooting occurred at Kensington Street and St. Clair Avenue, near the basketball court.

The 13-year-old was taken to the hospital but died after arrival. A 15-year-old male was shot in the leg at the scene. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover, according to the Longmont Police Department. 

Both teens are Longmont residents, the police state.

The police launched an investigation and discovered Yahir Solis as a suspect. Solis has been arrested on the charges of First Degree Murder and Attempted First Degree Murder. 

After arriving at the Boulder County Jail, police also discovered that Solis had two outstanding warrants. The first was for a traffic offense in Boulder County and the second was out of the Lafayette Police Department for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
