Eight units located at 1229 Francis St. caught fire Sunday night. An investigation is underway.

Around 5:09 p.m. on Sunday, the Longmont Fire Department was dispatched to eight units that were part of a multi-family housing unit for a fire.

The damage to the units and carports was significant, said Longmont Public Safety spokesperson Robin Ericson said Monday. Ericson could not comment on the full extent of the damage other than to say that the building department would be responsible for determining when people could return.

All the families from the eight units were evacuated and no injuries were reported. Ericson said the number of displaced individuals is still unknown.

Although all the families were evacuated, some pets were caught in the fire. Ericson did not know how many pets or the types of pets were lost to the fire.

The fire department was able to save the structures to the north and south of the multi-family unit, however, each sustained some damage.

Monetary donations for displaced families are being accepted at The Well Church, located at 1240 Francis St. The church asks that physical items not be brought to the church. If you have items to donate, please contact the church by emailing [email protected] or calling 720-899-4888. The church will compile a list of eligible items and connect them with the residents in need, according to Ericson.
