Longmont police have identified and are looking for Daniel Macintosh Stuart as a suspect in a carjacking/kidnapping incident Monday near Martin Street and Ken Pratt Boulevard. The victim was able to flee the car and was not hurt.
Stuart is a 41-year-old white man with dark brown hair and brown eyes, and is known to carry a small black backpack, Jeff Satur, deputy chief of Longmont Police Services, stated in a news release emailed Friday.
He is wanted for first-degree criminal trespass, felony menacing, second-degree kidnapping and possession of a weapon by a previous offender, according to the release..
At the time of the crime, Stuart was “armed with a revolver” and “is likely still armed with the firearm,” according to the release.
Stuart is believed to be a transient, likely traveling on foot. Police said he is from Arizona but has been sighted in Lafayette, Boulder and Longmont.
On the night of the carjacking/kidnapping, he indicated that he wanted to go to Cheyenne, Wyoming, according to the release.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Stuart and bond was set at $100,000, according to the release.
Police warn those who see Stuart not to approach him and to notify Longmont police by calling 303-651-8501 or 911. A reward up to $2,000 may be awarded for information that leads to the filing of charges,” according to the release.
