On Sunday evening, Longmont Police found an array of illegal paraphernalia in an abandoned vehicle. Officers from LPD are still trying to trace the car and its contents back to a suspect.

At approximately 8 p.m., a police officer was on routine patrol when the officer noticed two people acting suspiciously, according to Robin Ericson, LPD’s communication and marketing manager.

A man and a woman were standing between a green and black Jeep Grand Cherokee and a dark colored Nissan Altima coupe, which were parked at a carwash in the 500 block of 21st Avenue.

The officer observed the man hand something to the woman. After spotting the officer’s car, the man quickly got back into the Nissan and fled from the rear of the carwash’s parking lot.

The officer followed the vehicle, which headed east on 21st Avenue then made an abrupt turn onto Meadow Court.

The vehicle was later found unoccupied in the 2100 block of Meadow Court.

Inside the vehicle, the officer discovered a used needle, several small plastic baggies with white, powdery residue and a large glass bubbler smoking device, Ericson said. Further investigation of the vehicle revealed a single round of .223 caliber green tip ammunition, numerous knives, a hatchet, a stack of blank credit cards and two VISA cards that did not match the registered vehicle owner’s name. In a backpack, police found in the back seat, was a letter addressed to the Larimer County Jail.

Officers were unable to locate the suspect after visiting the address registered to the vehicle.

If anyone has information related to the identity of the male suspect, they’re asked to please contact Longmont Police at 303-651-8555 and reference case #22-3690.
