Just after midnight on Tuesday, a Longmont Police officer reported hearing 12 gunshots near 461 Weld County Road 26, near Union Reservoir. A Longmont Police officer responded to the area and encountered a maroon Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound toward E County Line Road.

The officer pulled the car over and found four occupants in the vehicle, according to the Longmont Police. The officer also found a firearm that had been reported stolen out of Aurora on Jan. 11.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man who stated he had consumed alcohol approximately two hours before the encounter with the police, according to the Longmont Police.

The police searched the car and found "two baggies with suspected cocaine inside," the police reported. The suspect later confirmed that the substance was cocaine.

The man was arrested for prohibited use of a weapon, possession of less than 4 grams of a schedule II drug and theft. He was later released from custody.
