Longmont Public Safety announced in a Facebook post on Thursday that it discovered seven local businesses that failed to “properly ID underage minors who were sold/served alcohol.”

Last week, LPS conducted an unscheduled alcohol enforcement check on 27 Longmont businesses. These businesses included restaurants, liquor stores and gas stations.

Seven businesses were found to have improperly identified underage minors during a sale. Those businesses include:

  • 7-11 at 841 Ken Pratt Blvd.
  • P and S Liquor/Gas at 400 Lashley
  • Parry's Pizza and Tap House at 1232 S. Hover Street
  • Red Robin at 2331 Clover Basin Drive
  • Blue Agave Mexican restaurant at 2030 Ken Pratt Blvd
  • Swaylo Tiki Bar at 1315 Dry Creek Drive
  • PJ's Wine and Spirits at 665 Frontage Road

The servers, bartenders and clerks were issued citations for the sales or service and the businesses will face administrative actions from the state of Colorado. According to Colorado law, selling alcohol to a person under 21 could result in a Class 2 misdemeanor charge which can include up to 120 days in jail and/or up to a $750 fine.

"We fully understand the gravity of this infraction as well as the responsibility every member of our team carries. We are committed to learning from this event. We have always said restaurants are the heart of the community. We owe it to the people of Longmont to provide a safe space for people to enjoy. We are a host for alcohol safety training in Longmont to minimize alcohol related incidents occurring not only at our concepts but everywhere in Longmont," said Matt Grimes, executive director of the GafnerGroup.
