Kamron Barnaby is accused of sexually assaulting four women during his tenure as the Hygiene Fire Captain. His trial has been set for October.

Barnaby appeared in court on Wednesday after posting a $100,000 bond. He is charged with six counts of sexual assault — submission against the victim’s will and four counts of unlawful sexual assault.

Two women were subordinates under Barnaby at the time of the alleged sexual assault. The allegations are said to have occurred while Barnaby was on duty as the fire captain and also include him sending sexually harassing messages.

An investigation into the allegations began while Barnaby served as captain. Barnaby resigned his position before he was fired. He then joined Mountain View Fire Rescue before being placed on unpaid leave when the department learned of the allegations.

Barnaby’s trial is set for Oct. 8 with a motions hearing set for Sept. 3. There are more than 1,300 pages of discovery, said John Pineau, Barnaby’s defense attorney. As a result, Barnaby’s counsel waived their rights to a speedy trial.

The charges fall under Colorado’s indeterminate sentencing laws for sex offenses. Barnaby could face a life sentence in jail if convicted in trial.
