On Sunday, several witnesses observed a woman attempting to walk out of a Longmont store, located at 2200 E Ken Pratt Blvd, with a shopping cart of goods.

According to Longmont Police Department spokesperson, Robin Ericson, an asset protection employee of the store approached the woman as she was exiting the store. The woman left the cart with the merchandise and exited the store. Authorities estimate the cart held over $1,100 worth of goods.

She got into a red PT Cruiser and drove away. Police were able to get the license plate information from the store's security footage. The woman was with other people in the car when it was pulled over by another officer, Ericson reported. The occupants were detained as officers identified the woman.

Officers found an object that the woman had removed from the cart before abandoning it at the store inside the car and she was arrested.

The woman was taken to Weld County Jail where a methamphetamine pipe was found hidden on her body, according to Ericson.
