A Longmont woman must pay over half a million dollars in restitution and serve six years probation after pleading guilty to stealing from her employer.

Briana Sikerica Czarnecki, 45, was arrested in March 2022 in connection with an investigation conducted by the Longmont Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Colorado Department of Revenue. She was accused of stealing approximately $578,000 from her employer, a health and well-being company in Longmont.

During the 136 weeks of employment, investigators said that Czarnecki made 329 digital transfers totaling $494,766 from her employer’s PayPal account to her own. Investigators said she also wrote 114 employer checks to her private account for just over $83,000.

On Jan. 13, Czarnecki pleaded guilty to felony counts of theft of $20,000-$100,000, forgery and tax evasion. Charges for money laundering, cybercrime and theft exceeding $100,000 — higher class felonies — were dismissed by the district attorney.

Czarnecki was sentenced on Jan. 20 to six year probation for economic crimes, 200 hours of community service and restitution of $513,341.
