A fatal traffic accident occurred midday, Monday, July 24, at the intersection of State Highway 119 (Ken Pratt Boulevard) and Martin Street in Longmont. Starting at 3rd Avenue, all westbound travel on Highway 119 is currently CLOSED and will remain closed overnight and into Tuesday morning. All eastbound travel lanes are open on Highway 119, but no turns are allowed onto Martin Street. Police will be conducting an investigation of the accident until at least 6pm tonight. Once the investigation is complete, Public Works staff will be able to begin the work to install temporary traffic signals to replace those that were damaged in the accident. In the meantime, travelers should avoid this area and use alternative routes.
