On August 22nd, the Board of Education approved Change Order 2 for $150,000 to adjust the contract with Adolfson & Peterson Construction. The contract value currently stands at $1,450,000.
The acceptance of the change order also authorized Brian Lamer, Assistant Superintendent of Operations, to sign contract documents for the change order.
The adjustment in the costs of the project was due to unforeseen foundation and sewer line repairs discovered during the construction of the current project at Lyons Elementary.
Change Order 2 is funded by the 2016 Bond Program, a bond passed by Longmont to update schools in need of repair and expansion.
Lamer explains how a change order is defined and works in the St. Vrain Valley School District,
"When we do a contract, we have a short-a small contract, where we bring in those contractors to help us work through the designs, called the CM Portion or the CMGC. And then we do an amendment. For our interpretation, we call that amendment a Change Order."
