Bike ride to cause traffic congestion, Saturday

An estimated 1,500 people will ride their bikes on city streets and greenways

The Lightshiner Radler Rider, a Celebration of Cycling will take place in Longmont on Saturday from 2-10 p.m. with cyclists beginning the ride between 4-5 p.m. and causing some traffic congestion and partial street closure along Emery St.

The event began in 2011 and welcomes anyone to grab the bike they have and join in the fun. There is a pre-ride portion to the event that will feature games, exhibitors, trivia, demonstrations and more. After the ride, participants are invited to reconvene at Wibby Brewing, sponsor and host of the event, for food trucks and a concert.

The ride is also a fundraiser to support Bicycle Longmont who advocates for more Longmont bike infrastructure, organizes a children's holiday bike program and will soon open an educational bike garage.

There is an anticipated 1,500 people riding bikes in this year's event, according to a city of Longmont news release. The riders will ride on city streets and greenways.
