Students at Blue Mountain Elementary School can go without their masks while they are outside starting April 26, although mask wearing in the outdoors is “highly recommended,” Principal Stephen Hoel said in an email to parents.

Students will still be required to wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status, Hoel said.

He noted he wanted to update parents about COVID-19 protocols given upcoming changes to the state and Boulder County COVID-19 Dial framework. Boulder County is currently in the less restrictive Blue Status on the county COVID-19 Dial.

Blue Mountain will continue its increased cleaning and sanitizing protocols, the use of high-quality MERV-11 air ventilation HVAC systems, increased hand washing and sanitizing, Hoel said.

...We continue to ask parents to conduct daily symptom checks before sending students to school,” Hoel said. “Community-wide COVID-19 testing continues to be available at our Innovative Center site, and we will continue to follow Boulder County Public Health quarantining protocols whenever there is a confirmed or suspected case in our school.”

Parents are asked to call the school’s front office if they have questions, 720-652-8220.
