The U.S. Department of State estimates that there are 27.6 million victims of human trafficking worldwide. Human traffickers prey on all people no matter their age, background or nationality. The Boulder County District Attorney’s Office is offering a program to help people understand and combat human trafficking.

The program is facilitated by the Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking and the Boulder County DA’s Office. It is a free two-hour training designed for small business owners, local leaders, employees of businesses and community members.

Those who participate will learn about the types of human trafficking situations and how to identify potential victims, safety assessment awareness, youth and social media, how to respond when you suspect human trafficking and how to identify community resources.

Reservations are required for the Jan. 23 event that will begin at 10 a.m. at the Longmont Civic Center, located at 350 Kimbark St.
