Boulder County rescuers came to the aid of a 55-year-old Longmont woman Wednesday afternoon after she experienced chest pains while hiking near Diamond Lake in Nederland, according to a Boulder County Sheriff's Office news release.

The Nederland Fire Protection District and Rocky Mountain Rescue Group responded after a U.S. Forest Service employee in the area hiked to his truck parked at the Fourth of July Trailhead to notify authorities. After hiking in to the woman's location and determining she could not walk out on her own, rescuers used a litter to get her to the trailhead, according to the release. She was then transported to Boulder by American Medical Response.

The rescue took approximately two hours, according to the release.

The sheriff’s office and Rocky Mountain Rescue Group also assisted with the rescue.
