Yesterday evening, the Boulder Police Department published a news release asking for the public’s help to find a woman who’s now wanted on 35 new charges related to menacing a group of schoolchildren and teachers on Monday.
The Boulder Police Department arrested Alyssa F. Barger on May 5 for felony menacing after the department received reports that a woman was waving around a knife and allegedly threatening to kill a teacher and students in the 1700 block of Broadway. Witnesses said the suspect was within 10 feet of the children and teacher when she threatened to kill them while waving the knife around. The teacher and students were not injured during the encounter.
She was officially booked into the Boulder County Jail at 7:34 p.m. Monday and was released with a personal recognizance bond on Tuesday.
On May 8, the District Attorney’s Office filed 18 new charges of felony menacing and 17 counts of misdemeanor child abuse against Barger, 31, of Arizona. “Barger did not appear. Because the suspect failed to appear in court today as required, the judge revoked her bond and issued a warrant for her arrest for Failure to Appear,” BPD said.
Barger has no fixed address and has limited ties to the community. Boulder Police are asking for the public’s help to find her. Anyone with any information about this case or her whereabouts is asked to call 911 regarding case 25-04126.
The police said there may be other victims and the investigation is ongoing. Boulder Police Public Information Officer Dionne Waugh told the Longmont Leader on Tuesday afternoon that there were no other known victims at that time.
