Update: The brushfire burned approximately 10 acres of marsh and open space land. The cause is still unknown.

A witness in the area reported seeing two individuals leaving the scene just as the fire began. Investigators are looking into who those individuals may be, according to Kramer.

Earlier today, a brushfire broke out near the Waste Diversion Center, located along Martin Street, in Longmont.

Around 4 p.m. Patrick Kramer, firefighter engineer and public information officer for the Longmont Fire Department reported that crews from several brush trucks and a couple of fire engines were still in the process of extinguishing the fire.

Kramer also said there have been no reports of any structures being burned.

Investigations will continue into the evening as firefighters "clean up" the scene, Kramer said. At this time, the cause and the size of the fire remain unknown.
