LONGMONT, Colo. – It’s the time of year when local writers sharpen their pencils, flourish their pens, and open their laptops to create original stories, poems, memoirs, and art for the Library’s sixth annual You Belong Anthology.  After five years as part of the Library Festival, this year the Anthology steps into its own limelight as a stand-alone event. The deadline for submissions is September 8 at 5 pm, and an open house party celebrating the book’s publication will be held on Monday, October 9, from 6:30 to 9 pm.

With several years’ experience selecting and publishing local authors, playwrights, and artists, library staff are excited to begin the selection, editing and publication process.  Longmont-area residents of all ages are invited to submit entries.  An editorial committee will select works for publication from several writing genres, including fiction, personal narratives, poetry, essays, and children’s stories, as well as illustrations and photographs. Don't be shy - our community is full of talented people, and we suspect you're one of them.

The 2017 You Belong Anthology will be formally released at a special library program on Monday, October 9, from 6:30 to 9 pm.  Anthology copies will be available for sale and contributors will be on hand to read from their selections and talk to attendees.  Light refreshments will be available.

Those wishing to submit an entry for consideration can find all the necessary information and application form on the Library’s website at http://bit.ly/LibAnthology.  So, start outlining, drafting, and editing – we want your best work to make this year’s anthology the best yet!
