Congressman Ken Buck announced on Wednesday that he will not seek a sixth term to represent Colorado in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“I am grateful for your support as we have fought against the left’s policies that have had real-world consequences,” Buck said in a video announcement.

In his announcement, he stated that his reason for leaving Congress was because “tough votes are replaced by social media status.”

Buck said that Americans are looking to Republicans to make decisive actions in government, however, it may be in vain.

Buck stated that too many Republican leaders are lying to Americans by stating the 2020 election was stolen and the events on January 6 were an unguided tour at the capital.

“These insidious narratives breed widespread cynicism and erode America’s confidence in the rule of law,” Buck said. “Our nation is on a collision course with reality and a steadfast commitment to truth — even uncomfortable truths — is the only way forward.”

He urged Republicans to focus on America’s problems and to stop fixating on vengeance and retribution.

“The Republican party of today, however, is ignoring self-evident truths about the rule of law and limited government in exchange for self-serving lies,” Buck said. “It’s time to stop feeding popular narratives and start feeding the long-term solutions.”

“To my friends in Colorado, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve our nation, and to serve you. I look forward to seeing you at the grocery store and the high school football game. Being your representative in Washington, DC, has been the greatest professional thrill, and highest honor, of my life.,” Buck said.
