Detours expected in Downtown Longmont this week

Construction on The Spoke will reroute auto and pedestrian traffic

Downtown Longmont will experience road closures due to utility projects this week.

The Spoke on Coffman St. is expected to have water line and gas line work completed this week.

The water line project will take place April 26-30, weather permitting, and will close off Coffman Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues.

On April 28-29, the facility is expected to have gas line work completed, closing the alley and breezeway in the 500 block of Coffman St.

Vehicles exiting the 600W parking lot, near the Village Place Apartments, can use a detour through the Pine Ridge Dental office parking lot to access Main Street, according to a newsletter from Longmont Downtown Development Authority, or LDDA.

The work will also include service for Dry Land Distillers’ soon-to-be home.

The gas line project will not interrupt gas service to the area.

The Spoke on Coffman project is a public-private partnership between Boulder County, the Boulder County Housing Authority, or BCHA, and LDDA. The project will include 73 permanently affordable rental homes, according to the Boulder County website. Construction completion is expected in the spring of 2022, with tenants moving in shortly after.
