The Elections Division Ballot Processing Center hosted a public tour to teach Boulder County residents about the voting process.
Clerk Molly Fitzpatrick took groups of individuals around the ballot processing center to explain in greater detail how the ballots are processed.
The goal of these tours, according to Fitzpatrick, is to highlight the security of the voting process and make the process less intimidating.
“It’s not enough to just say our elections are secure, you really have to demonstrate why, and that’s always been the case, but I think it’s even more the case now with so much misinformation. So we are doing everything we can to lift the curtain,” Fitzpatrick said.
Fitzpatrick also hosted several webinar events this week detailing the ballot process. On the ballot processing center’s website there is a 20 page security report, which details how an individual’s ballot is processed.
The center prioritizes physical security of the ballots and only individuals with the clearance can enter areas where the ballots are being processed.
“We have badge entry so only people who need to access this space for their work can access this space, just wanting to access this space is not enough, you have to need it for a certain reason,” Fitzpatrick said.
Tuesday June 28 is the last day to vote and all ballots must be in by 7 p.m.
