Major traffic impacts are expected from 6:00 a.m.-noon Friday, July 29, on South Main Street as work begins to relocate traffic from the east side to the west side of the Main Street Bridge over St. Vrain Creek.

Travelers can expect major delays during the lane shift work and alternate routes, such as South Pratt Parkway and Martin Street, are highly recommended.

Traffic will be relocated from the east side to the west side of the bridge. The lane shifts are being completed so demolition work can begin on the east side of the old bridge. The west half of the new bridge is now ready for use.

During the morning relocation work, southbound lanes will be temporarily shifted back to the east side of the bridge while traffic control is installed. Once that installation is completed, northbound and southbound traffic will be shifted to utilize one lane in each direction on the new bridge portion of South Main Street, located on the west side.

These lane closures and traffic shift will be in place for approximately five months. Alternates routes such as South Pratt Parkway and Martin Street are encouraged.

The Main Street Bridge Replacement is part of Focus on South Main, a multi-year effort intended to improve the southeastern gateway to Longmont’s core along Main Street.  For more information about the project, visit LongmontColorado.gov/FOSM or call the FOSM Hotline: 303-774-FOSM (3676).
