The Downtown Summer Concert Series is canceled, but the Longmont Downtown Development Authority has some music with rewards lined up for later this month.

Face Vocal Band will perform a free , livestreamed summer concert from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Aug. 28. In conjunction with the concert, and to support downtown businesses, the LDDA has launched an online contest for one household to attend the contest in person, or win one of more than $1,000 in gift cards from local downtown businesses.

The concert will be livestreamed from the Longmont Museum’s Stewart Auditorium via Longmont Public Media’s YouTube Live Feed, LDDA’s Facebook Page, and on Comcast channels 8 & 880.

Contest entry will begin at 8 a.m. Aug. 10 and run through 5 p.m. Aug. 24. To enter the contest, people need to make a purchase at a downtown business and take a photo of their receipts or get digital copies and then upload the photo to the LDDA website and fill in the contest form. Additional information, the entry upload form and official rules will be available on the concert webpage

The winner will be announced on Aug. 25 and notified via email or phone. The private concert will be at Stewart Auditorium, a venue that can normally accommodate up to 250 people and has begun to host in-person events for up to 50 people with safety and social distancing measures.

Longmont Public Media is producing the concert.

“The traditional Downtown Summer Concerts at (Fourth Avenue and Kimbark Street) have become a signature event for the Downtown Longmont community. We are sad that we couldn’t safely host any in-person concerts this year, but wanted to still try and capture the community spirit of the event while supporting our downtown business community during this difficult time,” Colin Argys, LDDA’s marketing and event specialist, said in a news release.

"Face Vocal Band has such a loyal following in the Longmont area, and we figured it would be a win-win where we could encourage folks to support our local businesses and simultaneously provide a fun night for the community to enjoy. We couldn’t host this concert without the continued support of Independent Financial, who has been the title sponsor for the Downtown Summer Concerts for the past several years and stuck with us through the challenges we’ve faced this year.”
