Longmont library banner taken in early Wednesday morning theft

The 20-foot sign was stolen from the east side of the library at 5:07 a.m. Wednesday.

Longmont Public Library patrons looking for signs to direct them to curbside delivery won’t find it today.

The 20-foot vinyl sign displayed on the east side of the building along Emery Street was “stolen by an unidentified man” early Wednesday morning, said Teresa Myers, library marketing and communications manager.

“We have camera footage, but I don’t have access to it yet,” she said.

The sign was stolen at 5:07 a.m. Wednesday. Information on the sign included the procedure for curbside delivery.

“We will be continuing curbside delivery for those patrons who are medically vulnerable or uncomfortable coming into the library when we reopen tomorrow, so the banner is still very much needed,” Myers said.

Library staff are concerned that without the sign, patrons may be confused as to the procedure to follow when obtaining their books.

Additionally, the banner “itself wasn’t inexpensive,” Myers said.

Anyone with information on the theft of the sign is asked to contact the Longmont Police Department non-emergency line at 303-651-8501.
