The Longmont Public Library is proud to announce a vital climate change event, titled "What’s Known, What’s New, and What We Can Do," which will take place inside the City Council Chambers, Civic Center, 350 Kimbark St. This event aims to shed light on the pressing issues of floods and wildfires exacerbated by climate change, educate the community about their impacts, and inspire collective action to address these challenges.

Climate Change: What’s Known, What’s New, and What We Can Do

  • 6:30-7:30 pm on Thursday, Nov. 16
  • City Council Chambers, Civic Center, 350 Kimbark St.
  • Registration required at this link; Free to attend

Temperatures are climbing in Colorado and across the world. That’s just one of many ways in which human-produced climate change is touching our lives. But disasters like wildfires and floods — two of the biggest threats in Colorado – are also affected by our built environment and where and how we live.

Event Highlights:

  • Expert Presentation: Join Boulder-based meteorologist and journalist Bob Henson as he sorts through our warming world and look at some ways we can reduce the risks posed by weather and climate extremes, both globally and locally.
  • Community Discussion: Participate in an open dialogue about the local implications of climate change-induced floods and wildfires. Share experiences, concerns, and ideas for adaptation and resilience.

By attending this special climate change event, community members will have the opportunity to learn, connect, and take concrete steps toward building resilience in the face of climate change.

The Longmont Public Library invites individuals, families, educators, and community leaders to join us in addressing these critical environmental challenges. Together, we can make a difference and work toward a sustainable future.
