The Longmont Museum is getting a $160,000 revenue boost for being shuttered during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The $160,870 comes from the U.S. Small Business Administration through the Shuttered Venue Operators portion of the American Rescue Act. The program includes over $16 billion in grants to small businesses and venues forced to close during the COVID-19 outbreak, according to a city staff report.

The museum closely followed public health orders in 2020 and closed its doors twice during the pandemic, the report states. The museum closed March 13, and reopened July 7, 2020. The museum closed again November 19 and reopened again Dec. 15, 2020, the report states.

The $160,870 is 45% of the museum’s 2019 gross earned revenue, said Museum Director Kim Manajek in a report to the city council.

“Staff will use this one-time funding to purchase supplies, materials and equipment for the museum,” Manajek said in her report.
