Longmont Recreation Center Officially Reopens After Temporary Maintenance Closure and Renovations

With its gymnasium reopening today, the Longmont Recreation Center has officially reopened after being temporarily closed in August for maintenance.

On September 3, the Longmont Recreation Center reopened its gymnasium to the public after the rest of the facility had reopened on September 1. Complications with resurfacing the gymnasium floor led to the two-day delay in its reopening.

The recreation center was closed temporarily for maintenance from August 18 to August 31. Every year, the Longmont’s recreation facilities close for maintenance on systems and equipment, and this year, the Longmont Recreation Center maintenance closure extended an extra week to complete repair work on the pool and a full resurfacing of the gym floor.

According to a Facebook post made by the city, the recreation center received the following maintenance and renovations last month:

  • Gym floor resurfacing and painting
  • Scoreboard replacement
  • Pool pipe coating to prevent leaking
  • Pool deck stabilization
  • Climbing wall new route setting
  • Lobby floor replacement
  • Sauna decking renewal
  • Deep cleaning, painting and lights replacement

“Recreation Services has been busy giving the Longmont Recreation Center a major glow-up,” the city said.

The Longmont Recreation Center is the city’s “premiere workout and sports facility.” The facility’s amenities include babysitting, a climbing wall, lazy river, lap pool, ball courts, indoor track, and more.
