Masking is no longer required in schools and childcare settings according to a recent update from Boulder County Public Health.

The announcement came one week after St. Vrain Valley Schools, or SVVSD, ended its Project Launch summer program. The program is designed to increase learning for all school-aged children whether that be from falling behind peers or accelerating learning.

During the one-month extended learning, the district reported zero cases of COVID and minimal quarantines — which were due to potential cases outside the programs — according to a news release from SVVSD.

While masking is not required in these settings, regardless of vaccination status, the district strongly encourages those who have not been vaccinated to wear one. Also, those who choose to wear a mask are able to do so, according to the news release.

“As we look ahead to the start of the school year, we continue to work with our county and state health agency partners on any additional changes to our local health orders, including quarantining protocols. We will continue to keep you updated as we learn more,” said Johnny Terrell, assistant superintendent of student services at SVVSD in a news release.
