Longmont City Council will be voting on three ordinances during Tuesday’s city council meeting. If you are for or against any of these ordinances and would like to have your voice heard, please attend Tuesday’s meeting and speak during public invited to be heard.
Here is a brief synopsis of the ordinances to be voted on:
O-2018-22, A Bill For An Ordinance Making Additional Appropriations For Expenses And Liabilities Of The City Of Longmont For The Fiscal Year Beginning January 1, 2018
Longmont City Council will vote on appropriating an additional $205,582 in five funds: general fund, sanitation fund, police prevention/education fund, youth services fund, and the parks greenway and maintenance fund.
If approved, the ordinance would bring the total 2018 budget to $323,900,808.
O-2018-23, A Bill For An Ordinance Conditionally Approving The Vacation Of Drainage And Utility Easements Generally Located In The Lot 1, Block 2, Harvest Junction North Replat B Subdivision
Longmont City Council will vote on approving an ordinance that will allow the vacation and redirection an existing utility and drainage easement on the Lot 1, Block 2 of Harvest Junction North Replat B property, located near Martin St. and Ken Pratt Blvd.
A new 18,700 square-foot Hilton Hotel is to be built in that lot. Longmont Planning and Zoning approved the development of the new hotel on March 21, 2018.
According to city council communications, vacating and rededicating the easements will allow ”Hilton Garden Inn at Harvest Junction North to be located in the central portion of the lot.”
Longmont City Council approved a first reading of this ordinance on May 8, 2018.
O-2018-24, A Bill For An Ordinance Approving The Site Relinquishment And Lease Agreement Between The City, Cub Creek Energy, LLC, CCW Energy, LLC, And Top Operating Co.; Authorizing The City Of Longmont To Lease The Mineral Estate Of The Real Property Known As The Hartman, Hernor, And French Properties (The Premises) To Cub Creek Energy, LLC (Tenant); And Approving The Revocable Permit And Agreement Between The City And Cub Creek Energy, LLC, For An Access Road
Longmont City Council will vote on approving a no-surface-level drilling agreement with TOP Operating Company and Cub Creek Energy. At a cost of $3 million, the agreement, which would lease 516 acres of mineral rights owned by the City of Longmont to Cub Creek Energy, would relinquish 11 future well sites, plug and abandon eight wells around Union Reservoir, abandon current well permits, and never drill within city limits. Horizontal drilling could still, however, occur under the agreement.

The Longmont Humane Society is asking for your unwanted, gently used items that you no longer want. They are asking that you donate these items to the LHS Thrift Store, located in the Parkway Plaza Shopping Center, 700 Ken Pratt Parkway, Suite 216 in Longmont. Your donations of items such as clean clothing and shoes, furniture, small appliances, books and artwork become much needed revenue for LHS.
Longmont Observer Hosts First News and Brews Event on May 21, 2018 at Longtucky Spirits
The Longmont Observer is hosting the first of many News and Brews events on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The event will be held at Longtucky Spirits, located at 350 Terry St, Suite #120, Longmont.
Longtucky Spirits is opening its doors specifically for this event. They will provide a tour of the facility for Longmont Observer members at 7 p.m. They will also be serving their happy hour drink menu, all drinks on the menu are $5.
At 7:30, guest speakers, Communications and Marketing Manager for Public Works and Natural Resources, Holly Milne and Waste Services Manager, Charles Kamenides will be joining us to discuss the City of Longmont 21 Day Challenge.
Longmont Observer staff and writers will be there to carry on conversations about the topic of the evening or other local news.
