Mountain biker rescued on Button Rock Trail

The man had non-life threatening injuries from crashing his mountain bike and was transported to a local area hospital.

On July 22, 2020 at approximately 6:35 p.m. the Boulder County Communications Center received a transferred 911 cal about a pair of mountain bikers that were lost on the Button Rock Trail. 

It was learned two 60-plus males were mountain biking in the area when they got separated for several hours. One of the males called 911 when he couldn't find his friend.  

Boulder County Sheriff's Office along with Boulder County Emergency Services, Big Elk Meadows Fire, Pine Wood Springs Fire Department, American Medical Response, Rocky Mountain Rescue, and Front Range Rescue Dogs all responded. 

The missing biker was located near the intersection of Forest Service Road 118.11 and County Road 47 by a citizen and escorted to an awaiting ambulance. 

The man had non-life threatening injuries from crashing his mountain bike and was transported to a local area hospital. 

The rescue lasted approximately four hours and was documented under case number 20-3238.
