Face Vocal Band has been captivating audiences both at home and overseas for more than 15 years and now the Longmont Museum, the Longmont Downtown Development Authority and Longmont Public Media have teamed up to live-broadcast a Face concert from the Museum’s Stewart Auditorium.  Like the concerts that usually highlight downtown Longmont’s summer season, this event will be free. The show can be viewed online on the Museum's Facebook page, the LDDA Facebook page, Longmont Public Media YouTube channel, or on Comcast 8/880 at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Boulder-area-based members of Face describe themselves as an “all-vocal rock band” and usually perform more than 100 live shows per year.  The band has opened for diverse performers such as Rick Springfield, Bon Jovi and Manhattan Transfer and has wowed audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It is known for its harmonies, vocal percussion and a repertoire of folk, country, rock and pop.

The University of Colorado alumni band members also have different backgrounds and “day jobs.” Cody Qualls is a vocal coach, songwriter, nationally recognized master of ceremonies and the director of the Face Academy of Music, formerly called Whole Body Singing Studio. J Forest Kelly is a massage therapist in Boulder.  Mark Megibow works with Jewish teens and also conducts leadership seminars. Stephen Ross is a music teacher at Longmont’s own Skyline High School, and Ryan Driver owns an ice cream shop and is apprenticing as a recording engineer at Sonic Audio Productions in Denver.

The LDDA held a contest to allow one lucky winner and friends to see the show in person. To enter the contest, people just needed to shop at downtown businesses and upload their receipts to the LDDA website. Forty-three entries representing purchases from 28 businesses were received, with the grand prize of the live show going to Katelyn Klickman, according to Colin Argys, LDDA marketing and special events coordinator.
