A wildfire that led to the evacuation of 20,000 people in south Boulder on Saturday is now 21% contained and there have been no reports of injuries nor missing persons, according to an update Sunday morning from the Boulder Office of Emergency Management.
Evacuation orders for most residents were lifted before midnight. The NCAR fire started late Saturday afternoon and burned 200 acres, the OEM stated today.
The evacuation area still includes 1,629 people, 699 housing units and 836 buildings, the OEM states.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. About 110 firefighters are currently working on the fire and will try to corral the fire into rocks and snow, reinforcing the fire line to keep the blaze from reaching the city of Boulder and Eldorado Springs, the OEM states.
Two fixed-wing air tankers are helping suppress the fire. Weather in the areas will be hot and dry today with wind gusts up to 20 mph, the OEM states.
