Longmont Public Safety notified the public at around 10:45 a.m. on August 5 that the non-emergency line to the Longmont Emergency Communications Center is currently down.

Longmont Public Safety's public information officer, Rogelio Mares, said that there is no word what the cause of the outage is at this time. "[There is] no timetable when it will be functional again, though we have our Enterprise Technology Services team working on it now," he said.

The city is working on a resolution and will release updates as they become available. The department said that there is no impact to the 911 system.

In the meantime, Longmont Public Safety recommends that residents call (303)-651-8563 instead of the usual non-emergency line.
