Join the Library and local bookstore The Wandering Jellyfish to celebrate the release of Ellen Mayer and Brizida Magro's new picture book, Gift & Box! Enjoy a reading of the new book followed by a thank you postcard writing activity. Afterward, the book will be available to buy and Ellen & Brizida will sign books. Attendees will have the opportunity to take pictures with fun cardboard gift-themed creations, as well!

Join Boulder County’s Mobility for All team and the Longmont Public Library for an in-person event to observe Ruby Bridges Day, a historic safe routes to school civil rights event that now signifies goals of anti-racism and anti-bullying. Temperatures are climbing in Colorado and across the world. That’s just one of many ways in which human-produced climate change is touching our lives. But disasters like wildfires and floods — two of the biggest threats in Colorado – are also affected by our built environment and where and how we live.

Join Boulder-based meteorologist and journalist Bob Henson as he sorts through our warming world and look at some ways we can reduce the risks posed by weather and climate extremes, both globally and locally.

A brilliant NASA physicist works on a plan to save mankind by transporting Earth’s population to a new home via a wormhole. But first, a farmer and former NASA pilot is tasked to pilot a spacecraft, along with a team of researchers, to locate a new planet for human kind.

Winter Wonderland: Santa Claus Life Model

6-8 p.m.

Clover Building at the Boulder County Fairgrounds

Immerse yourself in the magical atmosphere of the holiday season, and bring your own drawing tools, colored pencils, and watercolors to work with Santa as your life model. This workshop is designed for all artist levels, from beginners to experienced artists who wish to enhance their artistic skills and bring the spirit of Christmas to life.

In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to draw and paint Santa Claus in a variety of poses and settings, using him as your live model. Rob Birt (aka Santa) is a lifelong Longmont resident. You can learn more about his work as Santa at https://www.facebook.com/SantaAndCompany

Workshop Fee: $18 for Longmont Artists' Guild Members / $20 for non-members

Materials:

Brought by attendees, any drawing pads, paints, canvases, and small easels that the attendees may want to utilize for the live model session. Tables and chairs will be provided. Sink and water available.

8th Annual Longmont Museum Holiday Show

Featuring The Mestos-Abbott Latin Jazz Quartet, Brothers of Brass and Mollie O'Brien & Rich Moore. The Longmont Museum's annual holiday tradition, typically held the first Saturday in December. Light the way for One Less: VCP’s Inaugural Lighting Ceremony

5:30-8 p.m.

Featuring a Santa's workshop for kids, caroling, cookies, hot chocolate, and a visit from Santa himself, we are excited to welcome the entire community to light the way for one less homeless Veteran this year!

We will switch on the village lights for the tiny homes and our community center at 7:25pm and ring in the season of giving on this special Colorado Gives Day!

Each $25 donation for Colorado Gives will also turn on one handheld holiday light at the event showcasing the incredible light our community creates for Veterans in need.

Come celebrate the holidays with dazzling light displays on Thursday, December 7, from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at Flagstaff Academy Charter School. 42nd Annual Christmas Tree Festival
