Nighttime construction operations for the Pike Road Improvements Project will occur from 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 21 until 5 a.m. on Friday, May 22. Pike Road will be closed at the intersection of S. Main Street (US-287) in both directions during this time. North and southbound travelers on S. Main Street will not be allowed to turn onto Pike Road. All traffic will need to take alternate routes to locations accessed by east and westbound Pike Road from the intersection.
Work will consist of relocating the traffic signal pole and mast arm on the southwest corner of Pike Road and S. Main Street. Local area residents should anticipate construction noise and flashing lights at this intersection from late Thursday evening into early Friday morning. This work is being completed overnight to ensure public safety and reduce traffic impacts.
The westbound lane of Pike Road remains open to vehicles. The eastbound lane of Pike Road from S. Sunset St. to Kristy Court is expected to remain closed both day and night until late afternoon on Friday, May 22. Both lanes of traffic will be open over Memorial Day weekend.
The public is encouraged to use caution while travelling north or southbound on S. Main Street through the Pike Road intersection during the nighttime closure. All travelers should avoid using Pike Road as a commuter route until the weekend. Current project information and traffic impacts can be found on the project website at http://bit.ly/Pike-Road-Improvements.
