The majority of primary ballots returned so far in this month’s primary election have been Republican ballots.

As of midnight Thursday, 579,217 ballots have been returned out of 3.7 million active eligible votes in the state, according to reporting from the Colorado Secretary of State. Ballots are due by 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Five days out from the primary, 273,555 of the ballots returned have been Republican while 255,830 have been Democrat. Another 50,000 were being processed as of reporting.

In Colorado, unaffiliated voters are able to vote in primaries — though they can only return one primary ballot. Of the 192,434 ballots returned so far, 80,332 have been Republican compared to 62,339 Democrat. The remaining are still being processed.

Voters 65 and older make up 52% of the ballots returned so far.
