Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley was surprised with a $25,000 donation from First Interstate Bank on Monday.
“We are incredibly appreciative of First Interstate’s generosity and support,” said Nancy Herbert, interim executive director at Safe Shelter. “This donation helps us to further our mission of providing a comprehensive system of programs and services to address the needs of individuals affected by Domestic Violence, Elder Abuse, Human Trafficking and Teen Dating Violence. We’re thankful to have dedicated partners like First Interstate working with us to support and strengthen our community.”
Safe Shelter provides programs and services to victims of domestic abuse. The nonprofit has a 24-hour crisis line and an emergency shelter for victims. It offers counseling, case management and legal advocacy services.
First Interstate Bank hosted its Believe in Local campaign for the third year to “celebrate the bank’s longstanding commitment to the communities it serves,” said Kami Reiger, retail manager in Longmont.
Each year First Interstate Bank awards 40 nonprofits across the country with donations totaling $1 million. The nonprofits are nominated by staff at the local branches. Over 550 nonprofit organizations nationwide were nominated this year.
Reiger nominated Safe Shelter after working with the organization.
“Just the impact they have had on the community, I felt it was appropriate to nominate them,” Reiger said. “It aligns perfectly with our vision and those that we want to support and we truly believe that Safe Shelter is working to make our community a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
