Each year the city of Longmont’s Art in Public Places program reached out to the community for “Shock Art” submissions.

Shock Art is a collective effort between AIPP and Longmont Power and Communications to decorate electrical boxes with local art.

Artists who wish to participate are asked to create a 11’Lx10”Wx7.25”H hand painted scale model of their Shock Art idea. Models and an online submission form are due May 31.

Submissions can be brought to the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road, or Longmont Downtown Development Authority, 320 Main St.

The submissions will be displayed from June 8-23 at Old Towne Marketplace, 332 Main St. and at the Longmont Museum from June 24 to July 13. Residents can stop by to vote on their favorite art pieces. Each person is allowed five votes.

Artists will be notified at the end of July. The selected pieces will receive $2,000 for their time and materials.
