On Saturday, June 28, Downtown Longmont will host Summer on the Slope, an annual challenge event that takes place in “The Slope,” which is an area south of 3rd Avenue in downtown Longmont. The event runs from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and includes challenges and prizes for participants.

The challenges offered during the event will occur at various businesses in The Slope. The challenges include putt putt, a lei toss, a salsa roulette, and more. Downtown Longmont said that prize redemption will begin at 2 p.m. at Dee-O-Gee (110 Emery Street). The purpose of the event, according to Downtown Longmont, is to “celebrate our awesome Slope businesses and have a blast doing it.”

The games and challenges are free and open to people of all ages. Food and drink specials will also be offered at various businesses from Saturday morning until Saturday evening.

On the same day, Downtown Longmont and the Longmont Creative District are also hosting their monthly Dress Up Downtown Costume Crawl. The crawl, which the organizations started in February, happens on the last Saturday of every month. This month, the theme is “Beach Party” and residents are encouraged to dress in costumes inspired by a day at the beach.

Throughout the day, beach party-related events and specials will be occurring at local businesses in downtown Longmont. For those 21 years and older, free shots and/or drink specials will be available at various restaurants.

The neighborhood-wide costume event alternates themes each month, which will be “infused into the specials, challenges, and fun” at downtown Longmont businesses. Each month, the business where participants meet will change. Costumes are not officially required to participate in any part of the costume crawl festivities, but there will be prizes for the best costumes and various photo opportunities for participants.
