Longmont’s new mayor and newly elected city council members are scheduled to be sworn in today at 7:30 p.m. in the city council chambers, 350 Kimbark St.
Joan Peck will be sworn in by City Clerk Dawn Quintana as Longmont’s new mayor. She defeated city council colleague Tim Waters and local property manager Gregory Harris in last week’s election.
Also being sworn in is at-large city council member Shiquita Yarbrough and incumbent Aren Rodriguez, who won another term on the council. Incumbent Marcia Martin, who ran unopposed for her Ward II seat, will also be sworn in, assistant city manager Sandi Seader said via email.
Council members will also vote in secret for a new mayor Pro Tem. The post was previously held by Rodriguez.
A regular session of the city council will be held Tuesday, Nov. 9. with a discussion by the Boulder County Racial and Ethnic Disparities group. Council will also consider allowing a city of Longmont van to be used to transport homeless COVID patients to the COVID-19 recovery center in Boulder.
