UPDATE: Yesterday the Boulder County Sheriff's Office confirmed the remains found by the volunteered belong to Joshua Hall.

"We want to thank the professional volunteers and numerous organizations who spent more than 700 hours searching for Josh. Thank you, as well, to the community members who helped the Hall family in many ways. The Hall family released the following statement," a Facebook post by the Boulder County Sheriff's Office stated.

As a volunteer for the Front Range Rescue Dogs organization prepared for a search of missing hiker, 27-year-old Joshua Hall, who has been missing since Feb. 3, he came across the partial remains of a human body.

The remains were discovered approximately 4.3 miles west of Hessie Trailhead which is located at 730 Fourth of July Road, near Nederland.

Officials believe the remains belong to Hall, who began to hike the Hessie Trailhead around 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 3. His family contacted officials when Hall did not return home later that day.

The remains were found near a small stream only 0.3 miles from the Diamond Lake Trail, according to a Boulder County Sheriff's Office news release.

The remains have yet to be identified by the Boulder County Coroner's Office due to decomposition and possible animal activity. The damage to the remains also prevented rescuers from determining the sex and age of the remains.
