Search efforts for Lucas Macaj, 23, continued Tuesday but were hindered by the weather.

Macaj was reported missing when he did not return from a hike up Longs Peak. He was last heard from Sunday around 1 p.m. when he texted a friend to say he had reached the summit.

Storms moved through high elevations on Sunday afternoon.

Macaj's car was discovered still parked at the Longs Peak Trailhead early Monday.

Efforts to locate Macaj include air reconnaissance, a heat sensing fixed-wing flight and ground teams. Search efforts on Tuesday were hampered due to strong winds, white out conditions and low visibility. Ground teams were unable to explore the Loft area and the Keyhole Route — the route Macaj is believed to have taken — due to the weather conditions.
